Portfolio

Margaret Borthwick's portfolio contains examples of current work, some degree show examples and sketchbook images. She continues to sketch, but not as often as she would like. When visiting exhibitions she feels that the displays of sketchbooks enhance her understanding and enjoyment of the artists work. Margaret's sketchbooks formed part of her degree show in 2023, and were greatly admired.

Margaret continues to produce artwork using a number of different media especially oil paint, water colour and pen and wash. She has started to introduce collage and is also exploring painting on different surfaces.

She aims to encapsulate her feeling of involvement with the local woodlands and wetlands. She particularly loves trees and the patterns seen in the woodland floor. Additional elements taken from memory and imagination are often added for the final result.

Margaret has recently bee producing seascapes and has enjoyed painting these different and dynamic environments.
